Janna Waters

Janna grew up in Central California. She played as a setter and outside hitter at the University of California Riverside. She was named All-Conference 1st team and currently holds a record for 34 kills. Waters earned a BA in Mathematics with a minor in Education from UCR in 1999. After graduation, she started her coaching career as a graduate assistant at UCR, continued coaching as an assistant at CSU San Bernardino the following year and moved to Phoenix in 2001. While the head coach at Corona del Sol High School she received four consecutive Region Coach of the Year honors as their team won four consecutive Region Conference Championships and was 5A-1 Arizona State Runner-up in 2005. Moving to Chandler High School to build their program, she also earned Region Conference Champion and the school’s first appearance in the 5A-1 Arizona State Final Four. In 2009, Janna moved to San Diego, California and continued her coaching career at Torrey Pines High School as the assistant varsity coach. Torrey Pines has been ranked nationally by Prep Volleyball. While at Torrey Pines, she has won many prestigious tournaments, as well as have won five Avocado League titles and four San Diego Open Division titles. Janna comes to East High school with 18 years of coaching experience (high school and competitive club) and 16 years of teaching high school math experience. Janna has been coaching for 18 years and teaching for 16 years. She is currently the Co-Head Varsity Coach at East High School and also teaches Math at East.
