Professional Baseball Player, Damek Tomscha, will lead camp at United Turf & Batting Cages

NORTH SIOUX CITY, SD – Damek Tomscha, a Sioux City native and current professional baseball player, will be leading the United Baseball Skills Camp at the United Sports Academy on March 6 from 9:00AM – 3:30PM. The media is invited to interview Tomscha at 12PM on March 6 at the United Sports Academy – 300 Centennial Drive, North Sioux City, SD.

Tomscha attended North High School in Sioux City, Iowa, and graduated in 2010. He was named the state's high school baseball player of the year.

The Phillies selected Tomscha in the 50th round of the 2010 MLB draft. He did not sign and enrolled at Iowa Western Community College. The Florida Marlins then selected Tomscha in the 36th round of the 2011 MLB draft, and the Chicago Cubs chose him in the 19th round of the 2012 MLB draft, but he did not sign either time. He instead transferred to Auburn University and played for two seasons for the Auburn Tigers.

The Phillies selected Tomscha in the 17th round, with the 502nd overall selection, of the 2014 MLB draft, and he signed. From 2015 on, Damek has been playing for several Class A, AA, and AAA teams. His most recent team was the Melbourne Aces in Australia. On March 3, 2021, Damek signed to join the Minnesota Twins roster.

At the United Baseball Skill Camp, Damek will be working with baseball athletes ages 8-18 on all aspects of the game, including hitting, defense, and base running. The United Sports Academy is honored to have a native Siouxland professional athlete available to train and impact their athletes.
