NORTH SIOUX CITY, SD – The United Sports Academy is excited to announce that Aidan Vanderloo has been named the Director of Girls' Basketball. Vanderloo, a Sioux City native, was a decorated high school basketball player before committing to play basketball for the Iowa Hawkeyes and will finish his college career this season with Morningside University. Vanderloo has created a leadership committee ready to assist and help lead the program this winter at his direction.
“I am excited to assume this role and work beside our newly formed leadership committee to ensure our girls have the best experience possible. We are going to build off the foundation that has been established and create new developmental and high-level opportunities for our athletes. We have a plan and are ready to execute,” states Vanderloo.
In the summer of 2023, Leann Staiert stepped in to lead the program when former Director Sheila Adams transitioned to a new job out of state. Coach Staiert plans to continue her support of United Girls' Basketball program and welcomes Aidan to the United family.
“Aidan is a proven leader and winner. He has coached in the United program and cares deeply for basketball in our community. I am very excited to see Aidan lead,” states Staiert.
United Girls' Basketball General Manager, James Maher has big plans for Vanderloo at the helm of the girls’ program. “There is no doubt in my mind that Aidan will lead this program to new heights. In the coming weeks, we will be announcing a series of program enhancements and our plan for the future of United Girls' Basketball. It is a great time to be a United athlete.”
